Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is a British-American musician and sitarist. She was the first person in her age group to be a member of an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young rising superstar on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is a student as well as granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982. She spent her early years shuttling from London in London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place on stage in New Delhi when she was thirteen years old. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha continues to have a bright music and acting career, despite being young. She regularly accompanies her father in performances this she has been doing for quite a few years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. It was followed by the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years following. Apart from performing in all of the largest venues as well, she has a long stage career. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. She published Bapi the Heart of My Life, in the year 2002. The book is a biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as a Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka continues to grow in her professional career, and we can expect many more things to come from this talented lady. Anoushka is a native of England, but spent most of her childhood in between London in the UK and Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in high school there. In Delhi on his birthday, which was celebrated at the age of 75 she made her debut playing the sitar before the crowd of at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Anoushka, who accompanied her father throughout his global tour, gained a remarkable quantity of knowledge. As a teenager, she appeared at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. She was the youngest and only female winner of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her artistry and musicianship as a preeminent musician of the Asian Arts.
